HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY SILAS!
May the years ahead be filled with joy & wonder...

Had the pleasure of spending Saturday morning celebrating sweet little Silas' 1st Birthday with a pool party & sausage sizzle at The Bundamba Swim Centre, which has been completely revamped since the last time I visited (14 years ago at a school swimming carnival) & now boasts covered BBQ areas, shady grassed zones, a fully-equipped gymnasium, multiple "lap" pools & a couple of amazing areas for young children with "showering" mushrooms, ancient Egyptian "whirlpool" ruins, waterslides & shallow "turtle" shaped pools suitable for the very young... All in all, it was quite a magical place to commemorate such an important milestone for a darling little man!

When it came to choosing the perfect casual Summer ensemble, this awesome dress & kimono ensemble from Byron-based online store Dreamers & Drifters was a no-brainer! The tribal printed cotton fabric was breezy, comfortable & stylish while the relaxed fit of the drawstring mini-dress & slouchy drape of the three-quarter-sleeved kimono added that touch of effortless "boho" cool. And best of all? I was "sun safe" in the hottest part of the day, which as any Queenslander would attest is a fashion W-I-N! Speaking of "sun safe," I also wore a pair of funky, oversized (faux) tortoiseshell, modified Cat's Eye sunglasses from my local Witchery store to protect my eyes from harmful UV rays. As with the John Lennon style "round" pair that I wore on the blog a couple of days ago, these babies are still in store & ON SALE, so if you love them, head to your local boutique or hit them up online...

Seeing as I'm only five foot, I chose a pair of pair of black leather lace-up gladiators from Novo - pretty much my one-stop-shop for footwear this season! - to add extra height & balance out the "floaty" nature of the outfit as a whole & carried a small, woven macrame cross-body bag (with fringed hem!) that I picked up from Sportsgirl to channel Stevie Nicks for the Fleetwood Mac concert late last year, tied at the shoulder so it would hang down to mid-thigh. When it came to jewellery, I "amped up" the hippie, beachy vibe with a pair of neutral wooden beaded bracelets with silver charms from Emmala by Emma that I found at the Coolangatta Markets a couple of years ago.

Well, now that the fashion is taken care of, scroll down to see a few party pictures...
