The Santa Experience

Any readers who grew up in the 1990s (or had young children during that decade) may remember a television show called Rugrats that screened from 1991 until 2004 & chronicled the adventures of Tommy Pickles & his toddler friend Chuckie, twins Phil & Lil, dog Spike & spoilt older cousin Angelica. This title is a direct reference to my favourite episode - which also happens to be the penultimate Christmas one - where the Pickles family decides to spend the holidays in a cabin in the woods where they can enjoy the snow & the visit from Saint Nick only for hilarity to ensue... & Angelica to eventually find a lump of coal  where the car should be in her Deluxe Cynthia Beach House with real working hot tub, satellite dish, entertainment centre & attached garage... If you've never seen it, check out the episode on You Tube - it's highly recommended!

But I digress.

This post is ACTUALLY about what I wore the day that my cousin & I took her toddler to see Santa. Let's just say that #sweetbabyjames wasn't exactly loving the fat man in the red suit despite his cute elf costume & striped reindeer socks...

Dress: Anthea Crawford cotton/sateen
Sandals: Novo leather & elastic
Bag: Anthea Crawford vinyl
Watch: Guess rose gold, silver & crystal
Bracelets: Sportsgirl bead & rose gold

Unlike #sweetbabyjames, I didn't bust out the stripy elf suit, instead opting for a botanically-accurate butterfly printed cotton/sateen dress from Anthea Crawford with cap sleeves, defined waist, below-the-knee hemline & interesting modified bateau neckline with triangular sweetheart detail.

When it came to accessories, I decided to choose something brighter than the expected black, donning a pair of peachy flesh-tone leather gladiator sandals from Novo with buckled ankle straps & elastic sides & carrying a funky vinyl colour-blocked handbag (also from Anthea Crawford) featuring colours taken directly from the dress' busy pattern.

Jewellery was simple yet effective - a trio of grey beaded bracelets from Sportsgirl with rose gold "Hamsa" hand clasps on one wrist & a stunning silver & rose gold Guess watch with diamante accents, given to me on my 30th birthday by some dear friends.

And just because I couldn't resist, here are some more pictures of #sweetbabyjames in his little elf outfit, enjoying the Great Outdoors on his homemade "waterslide" with his feather duster... yep, feather duster...

It wouldn't really be a "Santa Experience" without presents, so here are some pictures of #sweetbabyjames opening his Christmas present from the Penny Family - a ride-on digger for the sandpit! As this is a fashion blog, I should probably also mention here that I am wearing a floral printed silk mini dress from Blue Illusion in the #selfie below...
