HAPPY EASTER EVERYBUNNY!

Had the pleasure of spending Good Friday with family & friends at home, stuffing myself full of delicious salmon mornay (traditional Scottish Easter fare) & hot cross buns before partaking in a rowdy round of gameplay - including an ATTEMPT at playing Lego Creationary (I am no engineer or builder, trust me!) & some high-tech fun with the Celebrity Heads phone app - & finishing the afternoon with yet another appetizing meal, this time a salmon steak with steamed vegetables. I may have also eaten copious amounts of "nibbles" throughout the day including a chocolate egg or two, some sweet & salty popcorn & nutty chocolate & macadamia nut slice, kindly made by my dear friend Belinda...

But I digress.

The occasion warranted a striking - albeit casual - dress & this stunning number from Little Tienda certainly fitted the bill. It's bright & cheery hue, coupled with its relaxed shape, cool cotton fabric & stunning hand-embroidery really has the special "Eastertide" feel that I was after. If you are interested in purchasing one for yourself from the online store, I would highly recommend it. Based on the traditional style & made in Mexico, they come in a variety of colours, fabrics & hem lengths & the embroidery on each one is unique (my favourite feature!). Click here to head on over.

Obviously a handbag wasn't necessary, so I basically had carte blanche when it came to choosing a pair of sandals. Cue these beige patent & elastic strap beauties from Wittner - stylish & comfortable for a "celebration at home" vibe - with a flesh-tone-esque shade that blends in to ensure the dress' vibrancy stays front & centre.

Jewellery was kept to a minimum - my favourite thick silver cuff & a vintage silver bangle with red & blue semi-precious stones that was an early birthday present from a dear friend who lives in India. Simple yet effective, as the colours of the stones can also be found in the rainbow of elaborate floral embroidery strategically covering what is essentially a simple shift dress to make it truly extraordinary.

Dress: Little Tienda cotton & embroidery
Thongs: Chemist Warehouse rubber

After a busy day on Good Friday, Saturday provided an excellent opportunity to just chill out, spending some time relaxing in the garden & starting to work my way through the vast collection of Easter chocolates amassed...

Once again, a gorgeous Mexican dress from Little Tienda was the order of the day, this time the "mini" version. As previously mentioned, the embroidery on each is unique & although the flowers on the neckline may be strikingly similar, the large design on the front is different - rather than 3 flowers in almost a "traffic light" formation, this one depicts a woven basket full of flowers. Truth be told, I am not usually a fan of black - preferring bright colours - but this little smock changed my mind, the rainbow flowers really "popping" against such a dark background to generate visual interest.

Speaking of colour "pops," the bright green fabric flower on the front of my new thongs (an absolute bargain from my local Chemist Warehouse at a big $3) perfectly matches the green at the neckline, creating a sense of cohesion.
