I love this Carla Zampatti Fall for the Fringe dress so darn much that I now have it in two colours! There's just something about extreme fringing that truly makes an outfit feel special & gives it those art deco vibes that avid readers of this blog will already know is right in my wheelhouse. For a morning spent enjoying a French cabaret performance with some dear friends, I've mixed eras, styling up the black version (black crepe, black fringing) with its straight shift silhouette, funnel neckline & slightly below-the-knee hem with a funky, late 1960s-military-inspired jacket with gold thread bohemian floral embroidery & vibrant red tartan flannelette lining from celebrated label Free People, found (by chance) at the St Barts boutique in Fortitude Valley, added a pair of edgy black matte & patent leather ankle boots with button placket closure from Wittner, 40 denier black nylon tights from Razzamatazz (my perennial favourites) & a boxy, burgundy jacquard handbag with velvet ribbon & tiny brass pocket watch from Kitten D'Amour that just felt very "steampunk" (19th century meets science fiction/fantasy) to my way of thinking. Despite the eclectic nature of the pieces, they worked together to form a cohesive ensemble due to the restrictive colour palette of black & red with gold/brass tones, finished off with a pair of handmade brass rings from a Brisbane artisan/stallholder at the Redcliffe Jetty Markets.
