It's that time of the year again... time for the whole town to come together for the annual Ipswich Show! Tradition dictates that my mother & I attend together on "People's Day" every year, checking out the schoolwork, needlework, patchwork, woodworking, photography, art, bee keeping, agricultural & farming displays, marveling at the baby animal nursery, poultry, birds (especially canaries), farm animals, peruse the market stalls & Showbag pavilion before traversing the bright lights & sounds of Sideshow Alley on our way to the grandstand to watch the ring events. This year, we were lucky enough to revel in the distinct vocal stylings of bush balladeer Dennis "Dingo" Dryden before gaping at the high flying, high octane antics of the Kaos FMX stunt team, Ipswich Show stalwarts for almost twenty years... while eating our usual Rotary sausage & onion roll with generous lashings of BBQ sauce.

Comfort was key, so I donned a casual yet stylish navy cotton smock dress with beige handpainted "phases of the moon" scribblings from a brand called La Kou that was gifted to me by some dear friends in two distinct colour-ways (stay tuned for the monochrome version at a later date), rainbow woven upcycled jacket from my local Oxfam store that is heart-breakingly closing down in early June, perfectly worn-in tan leather ankle boots with silver zippers & matching tan cane crossbody bag with leather strap from the gorgeous Renee Loves Frances boutique in Bulimba, sturdy calico screen-printed tote bag from Big W to carry all the essentials, Tibetan silver bracelet from a boutique in Maleny (name unknown) & finally, a pair of natural wooden beaded bracelets with silver charms & fabric tassels from Emmala by Emma. The whole ensemble exuded an easy-breezy boho vibe that was totally in-tune with the relaxed, celebratory nature of the day.

Scroll down to see how it all unfolded...
