There's nothing I love more than getting "all dolled up" to attend a ballet performance! I guess there's something truly special about art being created right in front of you, as you marvel at the passion, beauty & grace heralded by years & years of hard work & sacrifice. It's certainly humbling; the lengths that dedicated individuals will go to in service of their craft.

For this particular occasion - Queensland Ballet's The Masters Series, a breathtaking "triple bill" featuring masterpieces from ballet's best choreographers & composers, namely George Balanchine's Serenade (score by Tchaikovsky), Jiri Kylian's Soldier's Mass (score by Martinu) & Trey McIntyre's The Shadows Behind Us (music by Jimmy Scott) - I wore a stunning blue/black floral textured jacquard fit-to-flare dress with cold shoulder detailing & a high/low hemline from Anthea Crawford, cinched in with a wide, shiny black patent belt from retro-inspired label HellBunny via That Shop & covered by a divine, whisper-thin black organza anorak trimmed in black satin from Events Clothing that I picked up second-hand/pre-loved from Lifeline store in Adelaide Street for a bargain price. On a side note: delicate, see-through (sheer) fabrics are IN this season & versions of this particular anorak have even been spotted (in various colours) in Zara of all places, which just goes to show that what goes around MOST CERTAINLY comes back around & it pays to look in your local "charity shops" for hidden gems... one man's trash is another man's treasure, after all.

When it came to accessories, I kept to the "black & blue" palette with a touch of silver - a pair of black patent leather ankle boots with pointy-toes from Wittner to elongate my frame & showcase my slim ankles underneath the "high" part of the dress' hemline, black vinyl & indigo denim handbag with silver hardware from Nine West to add an unexpected textural element to the look & give it a little more "street cred" with the addition of perennially popular blue denim, chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop & thin silver hinged bangle from Oxfam for that classic finishing touch.

Scroll down to see more of the look, this time without the anorak...
