I'm so excited to share all the gorgeous pictures from a day spent in my ultimate happy place, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary with my parents, cousin & her two rambunctious munchkins! For those who are unfamiliar, Lone Pine is the world's first & largest koala sanctuary & is home to over 130 koalas as well as kangaroos, emus, platypus, dingoes, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles, snakes, frogs, birds, goats, chickens, pigs, sheep & ducks. Founded by Claude Reid in 1927 as a refuge for sick, injured & orphaned koalas at a time when the fur trade was at its peak, the Sanctuary remains committed to research & sustainability, recently opening a Brisbane Koala Science Institute in conjunction with the Brisbane City Council. As always, it affords visitors the opportunity to get "up close & personal" with Australia's furry superstars - hand-feeding kangaroos & cuddling koalas among other experiences - before enjoying a bite to eat or cup of coffee while taking in stunning views of the meandering Brisbane River.
For the occasion, I went matchy-matchy, donning a navy & red heart-printed cotton fit-to-flare midi dress from Aussie label Review, red silk anorak with silver hardware from Suzanne Grae to ward off the slight chill in the air, comfortable navy & black mesh joggers with navy & red laces from Le Coq Sportif, black nylon & textured vinyl crossbody bag with silver hardware to match the anorak from Nautica & finally, a silver watch with red & blue striped calico band from Daniel Wellington.
