Finally sharing all the pictures from a morning spent shopping ONE LAST TIME at the Myer department store in Brisbane City's Myer Centre before it closes for good at the end of the month. It's certainly the end of an era for people, like myself, who were children of the 1980s & remember visiting the animatronic Christmas windows every year before "following the yellow brick road" in-store to meet Santa & receive a free gift, who purchased their first pair of high heels in the shoe department & who spent hours trying on clothes with friends in the Miss Shop to name but a few seminal moments...

For these pictures, I'm standing in front of the mural depicting the centre's history, focusing particularly on what was once called Tops - the top floor that used to house an arcade full of games, a fairy shop & the line for the famed "Dragon Ride," a rollercoaster that would loop around the inside of the centre high above the stores & gives a bird's eye view of the food court below. I'm wearing a stunning red hammered silk high-neck midi dress with long sleeves & an elasticated waist from Australian label Review, a pair of black matte & patent leather boots with buttons (known affectionately as the "Anne of Green Gables" boots) from Wittner, black textured nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs feeling toasty-warm & a black vinyl shoulder bag from Sussan to carry all the essentials including the omnipresent face mask & hand sanitizer. When it came to accessories, I looped a Monet-print silk scarf around my neck (purchased as a souvenir from the Monet in Paris exhibition) & tied it into a bow, added a long, vintage beaded necklace in shades of red, green, yellow & pink that I discovered on Etsy & some of my all-time favourite silver pieces - a single vintage bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles (formerly of Coolangatta, now of Tweed Heads) & a stack of vintage Mexican silver bangles from some friends that now reside overseas.

Antique Crawl

Spent a leisurely, sunny Saturday doing what I love the most... antiquing with my younger brother, browsing through all manner of bric-a-brac for hidden gems from all eras that I can add to my eclectic home decor. This time, we decided to stay on the western side of Brisbane, heading to places in the Oxley, Sherwood & Paddington areas, as well as stopping at the delightful Plentiful Cafe for a delicious long lunch.

For the occasion, I wore a bohemian-inspired blue & white baroque floral print cotton voile puff sleeve midi dress with bateau neckline, embroidered yoke detailing & elasticated waist with pull ties from Australian label Shona Joy that I discovered at online emporium The Iconic, a pair of black matte & patent leather boots with buttons (ones I like to call my "Anne of Green Gables boots") from Wittner for the ideal fusion of comfort & style, black 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs feeling toasty-warm & a black nylon crossbody bag from Nautica via my local TK Maxx store to carry all the essentials (face mask, hand sanitizer) while leaving my hands free to rummage. When it came to jewellery, I chose some favourite pieces - a vintage silver bangle from 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles that my younger brother bought me for my birthday a few years ago & a stack of vintage Mexican silver bangles from some dear friends who live overseas to complete the look.
