D'Lightful & D'Lovely

Incoming tide...

Relaxing near the site of the old Jack Evans' Porpoise Pool...

Quite a climb to Point Danger...

A contemplative Froggy, staring out to sea...

A contemplative Frances, doing the same...

They say that art feeds the soul, so why not return the favour?!

A beautiful morning spent exploring Froggy's Beach & Point Danger before enjoying a "Macadamia Madness" thickshake, beer-battered chips - & a browse at the original local artwork & kitschy jewellery - at D'Bar Cafe, perched high above Duranbah Beach.

Equally gorgeous is this vintage rayon print muu-muu, given to me by a dear friend who knows of my love for all things from the 1960s & 1970s. Such a vibrant colour & print needs little embellishment, so my only jewellery was a chunky silver & shell bracelet from the eclectic Du Monde store in Paddington.

There's nothing better than the feeling of a long, flowing maxidress on balmy - or was it, breezy? - coastal evenings. As I am of petite stature (I may have mentioned that before... you know, once or twice...) full-length dresses usually have to be altered so I'm not stumbling around or tripping over, but in the absence of a seamstress or even a needle & thread to do a rudimentary job myself, I found a more unusual solution: rubber bands. By turning the dress inside out, twisting & placing rubber bands around the bunches created in the fabric, drapery can be created, adding visual interest & most importantly, raising the hemline ever-so-slightly, as depicted in the two looks above...

Reveled in a delightfully warm & sunny Sunday morning spent exploring the Coolangatta Markets, purchasing coastal souvenirs from the varied bijou stallholders & drinking a delicious cold-pressed coffee from the bohemian Peaches' Tea Circus, pictured below:

This vintage Hawaiian muu-muu was the perfect choice for such an occasion: roomy & comfortable for meandering around, cool despite its dark hue due to the thin brushed cotton & sleeved to keep off the biting sunshine as the morning wore on. Neutral wooden accessories in the form of a multi-strand beaded necklace & bangle lightened the dark hibiscus print of the fabric - ably assisted by the new Emala beaded wooden bracelets that I purchased that morning to add that little extra "something" - while black gladiator sandals & a straw bag anchored the look. Scroll down for close-up pictures of the Emala beads & the sweet sentiment that came with them...

An equally pleasant afternoon provided multiple opportunities for "sun-worshipping" - both on the balcony & by the pool - taking time for contemplation & breaking the spine of my new novel in a cool & comfortable brightly printed cotton draped kaftan & the beaded bracelets from the morning. Namaste.
