Spent the day exploring all that beautiful Mount Tamborine has to offer with a visiting friend. We traipsed along the Tamborine Mountain Rainforest Skywalk (click here to visit the website), stopping along the way to marvel at the flora & fauna on both the forest floor & upper canopy of the hinterland rainforest, the latter while teetering 30 metres above the ground on a state-of-the-art steel framed bridge walkway.

Afterwards, we made our way to the winery for a personal tour, replete with wine & cider tasting, ghost stories & historical anecdotes. Drizzly weather meant that when we enjoyed a gourmet lunch at a scenic overlook, the valley below seemed misty & almost otherwordly, making the stories we had just heard of fairy magic seem almost plausible...

Our next stop was Bamboo Down Under, a "growing attraction" on the mountain - click here to the view the website - lauded for its atmospheric Enchanted Forest, Bamboo Tunnel & crazy Bamboo Maze. Finding out way back out the maze (it's more complicated than it looks!), we headed to the Gallery Walk to satisfy the shopaholic in me who loves all of the edge little clothing boutiques, crystals, art galleries displaying the work of local artists & kitschy antique stores, stopping for coffee & award-winning fudge before making the drive back home on the M1.

It was important to wear something that would be suitable for lunching & shopping as well as exploring & wandering. This Flower dress fit the bill: soft chiffon fabric with an accordion style bodice for ease of movement & polka dot pattern to hide any dirt stains from our outdoor adventures. A mesh tie-front cardigan was added for warmth & wedge-heeled patent brogues for style & comfort (we were on our feet ALL DAY LONG). My Vera May handbag with painted sides added a touch of colour to this monochromatic ensemble while a silver fork cuff - made from an actual fork that has been hammered into shape, see detailed picture above - lent a touch of whimsy to my usual litany of silver bangles & cuffs.

Protection from the Queensland sun is important in these situations, so a straw cloche hat & large pair of sunglasses with black & white bows on the sides rounded out the look, pictures of which are available below:

I'll leave you with a few of my favourite lyrics from Dr Hook's 1976 hit, Up on the Mountain, which I couldn't stop humming all the way home... What can I say? A LOVE a theme...

Up on the mountain, up where the light breaks
That's where you'll find me
Gonna leave this worrisome world
And it's troubles behind me.

Up on the mountain, where the light breaks
That's where I'll be
I've barely got time to finish this song
So say farewell for me...
