For my final "Love Week" fashion post, I'm doing something a little bit different - no block colours, no vibrant hues, no classic silhouettes or LBDs, no interesting textures - a beautiful, traditional floral polyblend empire-line dress with boned bodice, adjustable spaghetti-thin shoulder straps & a tulip hemline from City Chic that just exudes retro character & charm when cinched in with a wide patent belt from vintage-inspired label HellBunny (via That Shop) & wrapped in a sumptuous ombre pink faux fur wrap that was a gifted to me by a dear friend to ward off the slight chill in the air on these late-summer days. I've styled it up for a morning spent at an event in the River City by adding a pair of divine baby pink suede pointy-toed slingbacks with bow detailing from the inimitable Kitten D'Amour, a black suede roll-top clutch from Portmans, a chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop for some daytime shine & finally, a kitschy resin flower cuff with diamantes from the sadly-now-defunct gift shop Canterbury Lace to add a whimsical touch.

Love Week: Lady in Red (Lace)

*

Dress: Taking Shape lace, chiffon
Heels: Jo Mercer leather, elastic
Clutch: Blue Illusion tweed, embellishment
Bangles: Vintage, silver (from India)

"Love Week" posts continue with what could be termed "quintessential" Valentines Day attire & the ideal option for going out dancing - the deep, red floral lace dress, in this case a stunning maxi-length beauty with deep v-neckline, chiffon on the shoulder straps, an empire-line silhouette & flared skirt with tulle underlay for body & movement from Taking Shape's newest "event wear" collection. I've styled it up with a pair of edgy black leather heels with elastic ankle strap from Jo Mercer for height, a heavily embellished black tweed hard-case clutch from French-inspired boutique Blue Illusion & finally, a pair of vintage, burnished silver bangles that a dear friend brought back from India for those "Wonder Woman" vibes that have, quite frankly, never been so relevant than on a day like February 14th! Love Week: Pink Lady

A change of pace after yesterday's "Love Week" post regarding the classic nature of the Little Black Dress with today's post celebrating vibrant block colour & neoprene fabric, no less! Though daunting for some, I was drawn to this hot pink piece of sartorial heaven from Forever New's Curve range right away, not least due to the heavy nature of the fabric, ruffled neckline & slight high/low hem to give it that "cha cha" feel that always screams "summertime." When it came to styling it up to attend a function with friends, I decided to bust out these gorgeous retro-inspired heels from Kitten D'Amour in a darling shade of off-white/milky cream that goes with absolutely nothing in my closet 99% of the time despite my best efforts, but really redeemed themselves with this look, adding a sense of vintage "cuteness" with their rounded black suede toe, buttoned t-bar & teeny-tiny bows, a boxy black suede & vinyl handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection to carry all the essentials, a chunky silver hinged bangle from Wallace Bishop for that touch of daytime shine & finally, an oversized, shiny black painted ceramic heart cocktail ring from StudioLeanne via Etsy that just added that statement-making something "extra" to the entire look.

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE... well, so say The Beatles & I must admit that I have to agree with them. Regardless of what is happening in life - the good & the bad, the ups & the downs - it is important to be mindful of continuing to be love, show love, graciously receive love & give love... even if there is no chance of receiving it from certain parties in return (we all know those kind of individuals, am I right?). Not just romantic love, mind you but love towards your family members, dear friends, good neighbours, strangers you pass who may need a friendly smile to get them through the day, people who may read your blog or Facebook or Instagram page to pass the time or find inspiration from afar, animals including beloved domestic pets, the earth & environment & finally, if you're religious like I am, your Lord & Saviour to whom you offer blessings & praises.

The week of Valentines Day, I committed to wearing a little something each day that pertained to the "Love Week" theme, starting with this Little Black Dress look, complete with this funky & amazing red resin heart brooch that a dear friend made especially for me! The dress in question was this utterly divine black twill number from Aussie label Perri Cutten with its 1960s vintage-inspired silhouette including a slightly off-shoulder, fitted bodice & asymetrically-ruffled, knee-length hemline & is so classic that it can be worn for years & years to many different events with a myriad of accessories. This time, I styled it up with a pair of rather sensual clear plastic stiletto-heeled mules with black suede pointy-toes from Tony Bianco, a true vintage black beaded handbag with brass hardware that once belonged to my great-aunt & finally, matching Disney Couture jewellery pieces - a brass cuff with silver Winnie the Pooh embellishment & matching ring.
