Immersing myself in the artwork displayed in the Queensland University of Technology's (QUT) recent Creative Industries Showcase at Indooroopilly Shoppingtown. As an alumnus, it was interesting to see how far the faculty has come since my graduation & what passes for "interactive" art these days. Will we see the work of these students in the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in years to come? Only time will tell.

But I digress. I'm posing in a gorgeous white & cobalt blue embroidered broderie cotton dress with obi-style belt from Aussie label Sacha Drake, a pair of white leather strappy heels from Wittner, a white-painted cane handbag from the delightful Renee Loves Frances boutique in Bulimba, a tribal cuff from Najochunky art deco inspired hinged bangle from Precious Stones Jewellers. As always, there's time for a "light bite" at one of my favourite places, Passiontree Velvet...

Continuing my quest to incorporate more "block" colours into my wardrobe by "styling up" this utterly divine, retro-inspired red satin-backed-crepe cold-shoulder dress with bow belt from Aussie label Anthea Crawford for a recent group shopping expedition. I'm wearing it with a pair of black leather pointy-toed heels with elastic strap detailing from Wittner, a black textured vinyl handbag with faux pearl handles & gold hardware from Review & finally, a trio of gorgeous jewellery pieces from designer Samantha Wills in the form of a chunky black resin hinged bangle with gold & onyx (an "In Style" magazine gift-with-subscription nearly fifteen years ago), a delicate gold cuff with onyx ends & a gold teardrop-shaped cocktail ring with onyx stone in the centre.

Franny Red Shoes

Dress: Anthea Crawford cotton
Heels: Kitten D'Amour vegan leather
Bag: Review textured vinyl with gold hardware
Hinged Bangle: Samantha Wills resin, gold, onyx

Ever since I watched "The Wizard of Oz" on a grainy VHS my grandmother taped for me in the mid-1980s, I have dearly loved red shoes & these gorgeous little beauties from Kitten D'Amour are LITERALLY the stuff that dreams are made of: retro-inspired, vegan leather in a pleasing shade of matte lipstick red with a kitten heel, rounded toe & a trio of straps emanating from a wide t-bar & anchored by little covered buttons on the sides. Pure sartorial bliss, as far as I'm concerned. I'm tempted to wear them with absolutely everything but in this case, I've styled up a look for a lunch with family & friends at one of my new favourite places, Marinara Italian Restaurant at Hawthorne based around this divine oriental floral cotton paneled fit-to-flare dress with deep v-neckline from Anthea Crawford with pops of red throughout the print, a funky black vinyl handbag with gold hardware & a pair of lovey-dovey kissing swans painted on the side from "girly" Aussie label Review & finally, a chunky black resin hinged bangle with gold & onyx from Samantha Wills for a bit of bohemian charm.
