Avid readers of this blog will already know how much I love high-class, vintage 1940s inspired burlesque & cabaret a la Paris' famed Moulin Rouge, so imagine my delight when I had the opportunity to experience a performance of Dita Von Teese's new revue, Dita Von Teese: Glamonatrix at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) at the end of last year. It wouldn't be a stretch to say that I absolutely adore Dita & her inimitable fashion sense, so of course I was "fangirling" the entire sophisticated, elevated striptease show - not to mention drooling over the one-of-a-kind costumes made by French couturiers, famed corset makers & burlesque icons. For the occasion, I wore a gorgeous black mesh A line midi dress with divine blush pink floral embroidery from Aussie fashion icon Anthea Crawford, cinched in at the waist with a thick black patent belt from modern-retro label Hell Bunny that I picked up at the That Shop pop-up store in Carindale, a pair of sky-high black suede stiletto heeled mules with shiny patent leather straps from Nine West, a boxy black suede & vinyl handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection to carry all the essentials & finally, matching chunky blush resin bangles & rings in the shape of coral pieces from celebrated duo Dinosaur Designs.
