Sharing pictures of the outfit I wore to the wedding I alluded to in my previous blog post.

Now, I know full well that there are plenty of horror stories out there about bridesmaid/maid-of-honour dresses gone awry; incredibly expensive - & incredibly tasteless - bastions of the so-called "Marriage Madness" that takes over some soon-to-be-wed individuals... you know, the ones who actually believe it when they say that the chiffon disaster that you wouldn't be caught dead wearing to the corner shop in the middle of the night let alone to a public place during daylight hours is capable of being "worn again, perhaps even on multiple occasions, if you take it up a little?" Happily, this is not one of those all-too-familiar tales of woe.

The dress that I was given (yep, given!) to wear on the wedding day of two of my dearest friends was actually stunning in colour, fit & design; made exclusively by a designer in London & shipped to Australia in time for any alterations to be made (not that it needed any) & matching accessories to be found. I must admit that I fell in love instantly with the empire-line mesh midi-length number with its tulle underlay, asymmetrical neckline & rosette detail...

To ward off the Winter chill, I chose this stunning velvet & chiffon wrap in shades of dove grey & black (with fringing!) that I found at a little gift shop on a jaunt to Boonah last year. Scroll down to check it out in detail:

When it came to footwear, I donned a pair of black patent closed-toe platforms from my local Big W store (an AMAZING buy at under $20) for added height, mixing them with a tiny hard-case clutch with chrome hardware emblazoned with a picture of Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in "Breakfast at Tiffanys" that I purchased from the Fair Mart store in Ipswich City Square years & years ago.

Jewellery was kept minimal & statement-making: a chunky burnished silver cuff with Swarovski crystal, bead & semi-precious stone embellishment, handmade in Paris by Gian Paolo Maria & found at Lannah Dunn & a matching Swarovksi crystal, bead & semi-precious stone ring from the "Flagship" store in Brisbane City.

The finishing touch was, of course, the "Thank You" gift given by the newlyweds to friends & family - a pair of long black PVC "opera gloves," handmade by a funky little company in Shoreditch, London. I'm rocking them with the entire ensemble below:
