Onwards & Upwards

After a brief hiatus (when she lived interstate) my dear friend Jenny & I are reunited... & back to our daytripping ways! This time, we headed up the coast to immerse ourselves in the bohemian vibe of Maleny & Montville, two welcoming little tourist towns with a myriad of beautiful boutiques, havens of handmade wares & eclectic eateries proffering a selection of home-cooked, organic & in-season options for even the most selective foodies. All of this, of course, set against a backdrop of lush, green, rolling hills & valleys... with far-off views of the ocean when the weather cooperates. As divine as it sounds, particularly on a cooler, slightly overcast day that actually made this Queenslander believe that Autumn is just around the corner!

Scroll down to see how it all unfolded...

Posing in front of celebrated B&B Maleny Manor's dense green hedge - somewhat contained by a stately white brick & black wrought-iron fence - in a sweet royal blue & pink floral silk/satin fit-to-flare dress (tied with a navy grosgrain ribbon) from Anthea Crawford, comfortable flesh-tone laser-cut, lace-up sandals from Novo for height & a pattern-mixed navy floral coated-cotton cross-body bag with "military" strap from Cath Kidston, purchased at the EKKA Markets last year, the latter adding a utilitarian edge to counterbalance the perceived "sweetness" of the dress' 1950s shape.

Jewellery was minimal yet funky: a pair of hand-beaded cuffs (also from last year's EKKA Markets) in a rainbow of hues & a chunky, vintage brass bangle from America that I picked up at The Way We Wore vintage clothing event a couple of years ago.

A little handmade something for our family's newest addition, little Riley William.
