Finally posting about our Mothers Day buffet lunch at Stamford Plaza. Due to unforseen circumstances, there aren't as many photographs as I would have liked, nor are there pictures of the family as a whole or indeed what Joanne was even wearing (for the record, it was an AMAZING orange & gold floral lace dress from Anthea Crawford, tan & gold chiffon wrap from Gregory Ladner at Myer, tan heels from Florsheim, orange bag with gold hardware & tassel from Colette by Colette Hayman & wrap bracelet from the Southbank Markets) but I'm sure that will be showcased in a later post...

When it came to my ensemble, I decided to mix shades of navy, black, white & silver, starting with this divine 1950s fit-to-flare dress from Anthea Crawford with a navy  v-neck jersey bodice & navy sequinned floral over white tulle skirt, cinched at the waist with the black stretch belt & silver buckle from Blue Illusion. Black laser-cut leather lace-up heels from Novo anchored the look, along with a boxy vinyl handbag from Sportsgirl to carry all my essentials... except the navy & white dip-dye chiffon fringed kimono from Tree of Life that stayed bunched up on top until the air-conditioning inside the venue started to kick in. It was a little touch of "boho" in an otherwise "dressy" outfit.

Rather than my usual eclectic jewellery choices, I decided to go all matchy-matchy for a change - a silver necklace with navy leather clasp & "cameo" pendant as well as a chunky silver bracelet with "cameo" centre from Karen Walker Jewellery (a birthday present from some dear friends), weighty silver hinged bangle & teeny tiny "pinkie" ring from Wallace Bishop (also birthday presents from friends) for some daytime shine to go with the aforementioned sparkle...

The event itself was beautiful - all of the diners were escorted along a red carpet looking out onto the meandering Brisbane River & given a complimentary glass of sparkling Moet & Chandon (or non-alcoholic alternative) before entering the dining space to be individually seated; chairs pulled out for the female guests, napkins on laps; the whole "five star" experience that one would expect. The buffet itself was a delicious mix of hot meats, roast vegetables, paella, curry, chowder, cold seafood, salads... & dessert... an amazing room full of sweet treats including homemade ice-cream, chocolate dipped strawberries, tiramisu, boysenberry tart, pistachio & apricot slice to name a few.... washed down with a piping hot latte. Scroll down to take a peek:

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the lovely mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, step-mothers, foster mothers, aunties, Godmothers, mother figures, mothers-to-be & fur-baby mothers out there... particularly my darling mother, Joanne - my first best friend, unwavering support, biggest cheerleader & unfailing inspiration.
I love you, Mum.
