Dress: Simona silk & lace
Kimono: Noughts & Crosses silk, embellishment & fringe
Heels: Bon Bons patent
Bag: Novo patent
Cuff: Tom Binns for Disney Couture "Mad Hatter's Tea Party"
Ring: Tom Binns for Disney Couture "Mad Hatter's Top Hat"

*

Another #monochromemonday ensemble - this time an eclectic mix of stripes, lace, embellishment & fringe! This stunning silk maxi with mismatched lace yoke from Simona looks so 1920s when matched with a long-line Noughts & Crosses silk kimono with beaded edging & a fringed hemline, as well as a pair of strappy Mary Jane "dancing" shoes. Owing to the fact that the dress had to be hemmed for my 5 foot frame, I was able to create a gorgeous snood (or "infinity" scarf as it is sometimes called) to wear around the neck in the cool morning air, adding to the overall Art Deco vibe.

With such a busy look, jewellery was kept to a minimum - a chunky Tom Binns for Disney Couture cuff depicting the cutlery from the Mad Hatter's Tea Party & a 3D ring moulded into the shape of his top hat, complete with the note "In this style 10/6" that is explained in Chapter 10 of Lewis Carroll's celebrated tome, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Check them out in detail below:

And the Instagram #flatlay...

Dress: Asos neoprene
Anorak: Emerson @ Big W nylon
Coat: Moda @ Target crepe
Booties: Target vinyl
Tights: Razzamatazz 40 denier
Bag: Novo patent
Brooch: Ankoa, wood (Animal Welfare League)

*

Heading out to see Pitch Perfect 2 with my cousin & clearly "earning my stripes" as far as my look was concerned! Starting with a thick, black & white striped neoprene smock from Asos, I then layered a casual, nylon anorak from Emerson @ Big W in a thin navy & white stripe - complete with hood & front zipper - & finished off with a smarter, 3/4 sleeved, crepe midi-coat from Moda @ Target in a vibrant shade of cobalt blue with black piping... with black & white spotted lining!

Picking up on the aforementioned cobalt hue of the coat was a pair of heeled booties, also from Target, in a matte black with a "pop" of colour in the elasticated side panels, creating cohesion to bring the diverse look together. Further black elements were introduced in the form of black matte tights from Razzamatazz & my trusty, boxy patent handbag from Novo

A whimsical, carved wood brooch in the shape of the Gingerbread Man - with a bite taken out of his head - was the perfect finishing touch, the light, neutral colour of the pine really "standing out" among the shades of black, white & blue. The brooch itself came from local brand Ankoa (check out their website by clicking here) & was specially created on behalf of the Animal Welfare League, meaning that 100% of the proceeds from sales go to this worthy cause.

And what of the movie?

I truly enjoyed it & certainly had more than a few laughs, particularly at Australian comedian Rebel Wilson in her role as "Fat Amy" or "Fat Patricia," as you may know her if you have see the first film. The previews alone should have tipped off viewers that this wasn't going to be a piece of "high cinema" but it didn't need to be, in my opinion... It was escapism, pure & simple & while grounded in reality, it wasn't "chained" to realism. And more than anything else, the songs were catchy, so that was a WIN in my book.

Dress: Liz Jordan @ Noni B elastane & lace
Cardigan/Waterfall Jacket: Yarra Trail silk
Blazer: Kamiko tapestry
Booties: Emerson @ Big W suede
Clutch: Diana Ferrari patent
Ring: Autograph silver, diamante & onyx stone

*

More #monochromemonday madness in an ensemble that always reminds me of ballerinas, for some reason. The white elastane Liz Jordan dress, with its faux tiers & delicate black lace overlay, works with my curves to create an hourglass figure, likewise with the 3/4 sleeved Kamiko tapestry blazer that was bought especially for my Goddaughter's Christening nearly 7 years ago & incidentally, was never worn on the day due to an unseasonably warm weather in South East Queensland...

But I digress.

The silk cardigan/waterfall jacket from Yarra Trail is thin enough to sit perfectly underneath the blazer, the long sleeves poking out & covering my wrists & the "puffy" top panel creating something akin to a scarf at the neckline, while the "ties" in the front, left to hang free, provide visual interest & create the illusion of length down the centre of the body.

...And the look without the layers...

Sky-high black suede booties from Emerson @ Big W anchored the look, along with a semi-circular patent clutch from Diana Ferrari with large, silver circle clasp. The same shape was then echoed in the only piece of jewellery chosen - a large, silver, diamante & black onyx cocktail ring that provided a touch of sparkle for day.

Dress: Anthea Crawford satin
Kimono: Portmans silk, embroidery & fringe
Sandals: Betts for Her patent gladiators
Bag: Novo patent
Scarf: Morgan & Taylor silk
Cuff: Wallace Bishop silver
Bracelet: Vintage, Kellie's Antiques Victorian silver with heart pendant

*

Spot of shopping with some dear friends in a vivid, floral satin shift from Anthea Crawford mixed with a black silk Portmans kimono with fringed hemline & detailed botanical embroidery.

Black patent Betts for Her gladiator sandals anchor the look, as well as a boxy, patent Novo handbag, brightened up with a printed silk scarf featuring many of the dress' colours. Silver jewellery was the order of the day, in the form of a brushed, flat cuff from Wallace Bishop - a gift from a dear friend, who had it engraved on the inside with words from The Beatles' classic, "All You Need Is Love" - & a chunky, vintage silver bracelet from Kellie's Antiques with oversized, engraved heart locket & teeny tiny key that was a gift from another friend for another birthday past...

Despite all of the wonderful bargains available to this self-confessed shopaholic, the best part of the day was cuddling this little fellow, Sweet Baby Ollie...

Dress: Vintage, late 1950s/ early 1960s guipure lace
Booties: Emerson @ Big W suede
Bag: Anthea Crawford vinyl & suede

*

Mixing 2 unlikely elements to create a funky, memorable look: yellow guipure lace & leopard print! The vintage lace dress from the late 1950s/ early 1960s, with its high neckline, tiered drop-waist & long-sleeves is pretty much the epitome of sweet & wholesome. The "Doris Day" of dresses, if you will. Leopard print, on the other hand - this time in a pair of sky-high suede booties from Emerson @ Big W & large, Anthea Crawford handbag - had always had a reputation for being just that little bit "edgy" or "sexy." Combining the 2 certainly made a statement - no jewellery required!

What can I say? It was just crying out for a #flatlay to show all the detail...

Dress: Millers stretch lace
Cardigan: Millers stretch lace
Jacket: Miss Sixty leather
Booties: Emerson @ Big W suede
Tights: Razzamatazz 40 denier
Bag: Anthea Crawford vinyl & suede
Hat: Vintage, 1950s wool

*

Revamping the concept of a "twin set" with this Millers stretch lace dress & cardigan in a pleasing "wine" shade... after all, mixing leopard print with lace seemed to work the day before! I even "took it up a notch" by adding a camel-coloured, vintage 1950s wool cocktail hat!

Cold winds meant that 2 layers weren't enough, so this oversized, Miss Sixty black leather jacket was added to keep me warm. The black was then echoed in the 40 denier tights that were keeping my legs "toasty," creating a baseline. Sky-high leopard print suede booties from Emerson @ Big W & a matching large handbag from Anthea Crawford provided the pizzazz...

Scroll down to see the "twin set" in all its glory, sans leather jacket...

Dress: Vintage, 1980s Young Edwardian poly-blend
Sandals: Betts for Her patent gladiators
Bag: Novo patent
Scarf: Young Edwardian poly-blend
Cuff: Trinkit Hunter, silver

*

Getting the dreaded "flu shot" in style!

Wearing a vintage, 1980s graphic print poly-blend smock with 3/4 sleeves from British brand Young Edwardian, mixed with a pair of black patent gladiator sandals from Betts for Her & matching boxy Novo handbag, funked up by the addition of the same fabric as the dress tied in a big bow around one handle. On the arm that wasn't soon to be "jabbed," I wore a sculptural "Bird of Prey" silver cuff from Trinkit Hunter - the perfect finishing touch to a rather edgy ensemble...

Dress: Millers stretch lace
Jacket: Millers stretch lace
Vest: Crossroads faux fur
Booties: Emerson @ Big W suede
Clutch: Sportsgirl wool & vinyl
Cuff: Vintage, silver (from India)

*

Yet another #monochromemonday look - & another Millers twin set, this time in black & white floral stretch lace! Colder temperatures meant a further layer was required & this sleeveless, faux fur vest from Crossroads (with leopard print satin lining) was ideal, providing warmth without "taking over."

Once again, a pair of sky-high black suede booties from Emerson @ Big W anchored the look, this time matched with a black & white wool clutch from Sportsgirl, edged in vinyl for an Art Deco vibe. In the interest of honesty, I will admit that this "clutch" was originally a handbag with heavy, chain & vinyl shoulder straps that rendered it IMPOSSIBLE to carry! As a solution, I cut the straps off (with pliers, intrepid-Jenny-Bishop-style...) & used thick black ribbon, tied into bows, to hold the sides together. Voila! Instant, MUCH LIGHTER clutch that I can actually use without needing physiotherapy on my shoulder.

Such a busy ensemble needed little embellishment, so jewellery was kept to a minimum - this chunky, silver cuff from India, with its moulded flowers, all that was required.

And, of course, the #flatlay...
