Southbanked

Like many other long-suffering Queenslanders, my mother & I headed to Southbank last Friday afternoon & evening to try & find some respite from the horrendous heatwave conditions that have been plaguing our "Sunshine State" for the better part of a month! Honestly, between the skyrocketing temperatures & near 100% humidity, I'm actually having dreams about packing up all my belongings & purchasing a one-way ticket to the Scottish Highlands... I really am a wintertime girl at heart. Unfortunately, the beating sun didn't let up until after 6pm & the temperature didn't dip until at least 7 but at least we were out in the fresh air & not cooped up in the house with all the doors & windows closed & the air conditioner pumping from dawn til dusk... well, not the entire time at least, as we did seek shelter from the elements in the Queensland Museum for a few hours until closing time forced us into the sultry Parklands.

Scroll down if you'd like to see how it all unfolded...

For the occasion, I decided to go "all out" in a blue sequinned dress from Aussie online boutique Bohemian Traders that just screamed "daytime sparkle," (seriously; it's a trend) embellished silver & blue diamante flat sandals & duck-egg-blue vinyl handbag with silver hardware from Forever New for tonal cohesion & minimal silver jewellery - a vintage brushed silver bangle from Retro Metro Paddington & a beautiful art nouveau dragonfly cuff from Kellie's Antiques in the Brisbane Arcade, given to me by a dear friend a few years ago.

Looking up in the famed Whale Mall...

Loving the way the projected backdrop is playing out on my sequinned dress...
