From The Moon To The Earth

So elated that the Covid 19 situation in Queensland was finally stable enough to take my cousin & her two rambunctious munchkins to the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium as part of Riley's "space themed" birthday present from earlier in the year... After a morning spent among the stars & planets learning about the history of space exploration & taking in "The Little Star That Could" show in the Cosmic Skydome, we headed somewhere close by that was  a little more down to earth... the Mt Coot tha Botanical Gardens where we enjoyed a play in the sunshine, walk along the Children's Trail, exploration of the fernery & lunch at the Gardens Cafe before finishing our adventure in the heat & humidity of the geodesic rainforest dome. Scroll down to see how it all unfolded...

Feeling like "Star Girl" in this delightful themed ensemble that was just perfect for the occasion (& garnered lots of compliments from other patrons!) with this black cotton poplin drop-waist midi smock with puff sleeves & gold, silver & bronze star embroidery from online emporium Asos' premium diffusion line, Asos Edition, a pair of white leather sneakers with black patent stripes from Adidas that I picked up for under $50 at my local TK Maxx store (where I basically did a happy dance because frankly, they are some of the MOST comfortable, cushiony sneakers ever made & usually retail for substantially more), my trusty black leather handbag - worn as a crossbody thanks to the extra long strap - from Pigeonhole to carry all the essentials including hand sanitizer, a brushed silver cuff from Wallace Bishop, vintage silver bangle & finally, a black woven hemp facemask from Aussie label Oroton to hemp protect myself & others during the pandemic.

Getting ready for the show from our socially-distanced seats in the Cosmic Skydome...
"The Little Star That Could" told the tale of an average, seemingly insignificant yellow star searching for planets to call his very own, along the way meeting other types of stars, learning about what makes each one special, discovering how stars combine to form clusters & galaxies & finally learning something very important about himself. The show is recommended for children 4 years & over & I must say, it was a big hit with both boys, who happily talked about it the whole way home in the car & thus, well worth the price of admission (note: the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium has FREE admission for the main areas but events in the Cosmic Skydome are ticketed & cost $10/adult & $6/child).
