Saturdays spent "antiquing" are my favourite and this time, I didn't have far to go at all as The Antiques & Collectibles Fair had set up just down the road at the Showgrounds. With my mother in tow, I headed out for a gander at the tables & rummage through piles of of vintage, retro & handmade wares from a variety of South East Queensland sellers.

Casual & colourful was the name of the game - a pattern-mixed combo comprising a textured, stretch jacquard Anthea Crawford dress in a large-scale floral print & Tree of Life zip-front wool hoodie in a reversible small-scale floral print. Unpredictable Queensland temperatures - Spring being a mere 16 days away! - meant that my usual black tights & brogues just wouldn't do, so this pair of Novo suede & rattan peeptoe wedges with leather ankle straps would serve as an admirable alternative, particularly when matched with a tiny leather cross-body bag in the shape of a ladybug, found at the Southbank Markets

Jewellery was kept to a minimum - 2 handmade, beaded cuffs from yet another market stall, this time at the EKKA. Scroll down to check them out in all their glory:

Below are the spoils from the day - a trio of finger puppets from the 1980s depicting the characters from English children's TV comedy stalwart, The Sooty Show: the grey puppy with the high-pitched squeak called Sweep, feminine girl panda Sue & the mischievous bear himself, Sooty.
