Headed out for a brunch date wearing an amazing textured pique Anthea Crawford dress in a botanical print resplendent with entomologically-correct butterflies, detailed below:

Red Admiral (Vanessa Atalanta)

Monarch Wanderer (Danaus Plexippus)

Blue Morpho (Morpho Peleides)

Clouded Yellow (Colias Croceus)

Despite this obvious nod to the fast-approaching Spring, the ensemble was anchored by the usual black accessories - suede & neoprene heeled booties (complete with back zippers!) from Corelli at my local Williams store, as well as a pair of matte 40 denier Razzamatazz tights. In all honesty, this combination has been an absolute Godsend this Winter; classic enough to work with even the most sophisticated outfits, funky enough for some of my busiest prints & most outre sculptural shapes & comfortable enough to walk around in ALL DAY LONG... All I can say is that my Summer sandals will have a lot to live up to in the coming months!

Rather than choose a black bag to wear with such a sprightly dress, I went with a yellow leather option that my brother's girlfriend had given me for my birthday as it perfectly matched one of the shades used to depict the Colias Croceus butterfly. Love it when this kind of *fashion magic* inadvertently happens!

And speaking of sprightly, one brightly coloured accent CLEARLY wasn't enough, so a boho-style, orange rayon "Omkara" scarf from Tree of Life was loosely wrapped around my neck to add a bit of pattern-clashing to the already rather eclectic mix...

When it came to jewellery, less was definitely more, particularly with the statement handmade silver butterfly cuff from Retro Metro at Paddington on one arm & chunky silver Wallace Bishop cuff (with inscription "All You Need Is Love" in homage to one of the most poignant Beatles songs ever written) on the other.

Unpredictable Queensland temperatures meant that a final layering piece was required & this supple leather jacket from Just Jeans was ideal; the cropped, almost Victorian style cut working well with the dress' pleating to define my waist & the black hue echoing the tights & booties situation going on below the hemline. Scroll down to check it out:
