Happy Birthday Rayne!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to my amazing father, Rayne!
You are such an inspiration to me...

As you may have already guessed, we spent last week celebrating all things D-A-D in honour of my father's 58th birthday!

On the actual day (a work day, unfortunately) we had low-key festivities at home, opening presents, spinning 1970s records, dining on Mozzarella Fella gourmet pizza for dinner & ANZAC Biscuit Cupcakes for dessert. The real revelry we saved for Saturday, when we dressed up & traveled to Sunnybank for a meal at Oisshi Sushi Bar, one of our favourite haunts... after doing our "civic duty" at the polling booths in the stifling heat. Apparently this is what Queensland thinks passes for Autumn weather. Um, 35 degrees & muggy with thunderstorms!?! Roll on Wintertime is all I can say!

But I digress.
This IS a fashion blog, after all, so below are both birthday celebration outfits...

LOOK #1
Dress: Anthea Crawford textured jacquard
Sandals: Novo leather lace-up
Bag: Forever New vinyl & silver hardware
Watch: Guess silver
Bracelets: Lovisa faux pearl & silver charms

For a balmy Autumn evening, this stunning Anthea Crawford dress with its floral lace textured jacquard fabric, bright neon yellow hue, empire-line cut with low neckline & below-the-knee hemline was just perfect, particularly when mixed with a pair of comfortable white leather wedge lace-up sandals from Novo & teeny tiny vinyl handbag from Forever New (an absolute steal at $22 in their Boxing Day sale)

When it came to jewellery, more was DEFINITELY more: armfuls of white faux pearl bracelets from Lovisa & a chunky, androgynous silver watch from Guess to create a cohesive overall look.

LOOK #2
Dress: Gift, silk & mesh
Sandals: Novo suede with fringing
Bag: Sussan vinyl
Necklace: Trinkit Hunter silver, shell & leather
Cuff: Gift, vintage silver & shell

For Saturday brunch at one of our all-time favourite suburban restaurants, this floaty silk dress (an early birthday gift from a dear friend) with its low neckline & monochromatic ivory mesh panel inserts was the ideal mix of dressy & bohemian, particularly when mixed with a pair of black suede sandals with fringing (!) from Novo & an art-deco-style vinyl cross-body bag from Sussan to carry all of the essentials.

Statement making jewellery pieces were chosen to complete the look - a chunky silver, shell & leather choker from Trinkit Hunter & a matching vintage silver & shell cuff to capture that laid-back, coastal vibe.

Sincerest apologies if you're feeling hungry!

Heading home in a pair of funky round-framed, faux tortoiseshell "John Lennon" sunglasses from Witchery...
