Finally posting all of the pictures from my trip down memory lane... A day spent celebrating all things Sooty, Sweep & Soo! For those of you who aren't familiar with British television, weren't a child of the 1980s (when the characters reached the pinnacle of their popularity) or don't particularly love puppetry, The Sooty Show - which began in 1955 - chronicles the exploits of a mischievous yet silent little magician bear, squeaky-voiced grey puppy & feminine, dulcet-toned panda & their human "friend" or "handler," usually the butt of each & every joke. I freely admit to being a HUGE fan, having loved the show's wry humour for over thirty years... In fact, I even have a vague recollection of seeing the characters in a "live action" show at the Twelfth Night Theatre when I was only three! There's plenty in it for adults to enjoy as well, such is/was the humour of Harry Corbett, his son Matthew & now, Richard Cadell, so if you get a chance, be sure to check it out on You Tube...

But I digress.
This is a fashion blog, so I should probably talk about this stunning silk/satin pansy-printed Chi Chi London 1950s style "prom" dress with its front pleating, low scooped back & flared midi-skirt... just perfect for twirling, as evidenced below...

Rather than teeter in sky-high heels, I donned a pair of comfortable peachy-flesh-tone leather & elastic gladiator sandals from Novo & carried a mauve & flesh tone textured vinyl handbag that I purchased a few years ago at the Mascotte sale, picking up on some of the lighter tones inherent in the dress' pansies.

When it came to jewellery, I selected whimsical pieces to match the tone of the day - a gold & white neoprene watch from Lovisa with the words "Always Be A Unicorn" written on the face & a pink resin Disney Couture bangle with diamante edges & gold "Mad Hatter" charms from Alice in Wonderland. Both can be observed in detail below:

Scroll down to see my reunion with some (new) old friends...

As Sooty would say, "IZZY WIZZY; LET'S GET BUSY!"

And it appears that I'm not the only one who loves these funny little puppets!
Huckleberry went absolutely crazy for Sweep - so much so that he had to stay on the OTHER side of the screen door at all times! Keep scrolling for all the pictures of their encounter...
