Spring, I have discovered recently, is a wonderful time to visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, as the warmer weather brings the animals out of their burrows & other various hiding places to greet the warm sunshine & the smell of eucalyptus (my favourite aspect) is actually more pungent as the temperature rises. For a day spent exploring what I commonly refer to as my "happy place," an outfit that combined comfort & style was required, starting with this amazing floral-printed neoprene midi-dress with side split detail & cropped black leather jacket from Portmans (ideally proportioned to hit right where the waist band of the dress did); a combination that I subtly pattern-mixed with a super-soft striped knit wrap with hood from Genison Fashion, ideal for warding off the morning breezes common in the early-Springtime & purchased from the little boutique at the Greenway Garden Centre... where I actually enjoyed a Lentil & Nut Loaf with Salsa & Garden Salad on the side, washed down with a Banana Smoothie (pictured below) at the Verdant Cafe later in the day, believe it or not...

But I digress.

When it came to footwear, comfort was key & this pair of black leather & neoprene loafers with slightly pointed patent toes from Wittner certainly did the trick, the lower heel providing stability while working well with the dress' midi length to show off my "tapering" ankles to their full effect. Rather than carry a matching black handbag, however, I opted for a "pop" of colour with a blue vinyl cross-body bag from my local Sportsgirl store, great for carrying all the essentials while keeping my hands free to cuddle a koala! Jewellery was minimal - a pair of silver rings (one with a mother-of-pearl centre) from Thousand Island Dressing in Paddington - just enough for a bit of daytime shine.
