The Two of Us

Avid readers of this blog will already know that I am never happier than when I'm on a shopping trip. This is particularly true when it's a mother-daughter trip & we have nothing in particular to buy; we are merely window-shoppers out for a girly chat & bite to eat; in fact, it's bliss! Well, a few weeks ago we decided to make the most of a free Saturday morning & headed to Garden City Shopping Centre together for some retail therapy... after making Dad snap a few outfit pictures on the way out, of course!

Scroll down to see what each of us wore...

Here I am, posing up a storm in a floral satin fit-to-flare dress with square neckline (something a little bit new for me) from Leona by Leona Edmiston, black cropped leather jacket from Portmans (proportionally ideal as it hits right at the nipped in waistline of the dress), shiny black patent lace-up boots from Wittner with matte 40 denier tights from Razzamatazz - after all, I have to make the most of the incredibly brief "boot weather" in Queensland - & boxy patent handbag from Novo with vintage printed silk scarf (a nice "pop" of bright blue to match the print of the dress) from Hobohemia tied around one of the handles for an unexpected yet ultra-stylish touch. Jewellery was girly to match the tone of the 50s style dress - a matching gold & silver "bow" necklace & bracelet from Karen Walker Jewellery, given to me as a gift from a dearly departed friend.

Here's Joanne in an eclectic ensemble from a slew of Australian designers - a beautiful cotton kimono fabric shift dress with black chiffon overlay from Maiocchi, textured black collarless jacket with three-quarter-sleeves from Veronika Maine (the 60s shapes of both items working well together), comfortable black patent & matte brogues from Ziera with red kimono print shoelaces from Green Tangerine, black handbag from Jag (purchased from our local Myer store) & finally, a collection of different sized, pattern-mixed kimono fabric brooches from Dogstar - used both on the jacket & to "hold up" one side of the black chiffon hem for a funky asymmetrical look & glimpse of one of the prints below - to create a cohesive look.

Keep scrolling for a peek at some of the delicious fare we treated ourselves to on the day... Apologies in advance if you haven't had your breakfast, lunch or dinner yet!

Citrus Tart from The Shingle Inn, washed down with a piping-hot Latte for Morning Tea...

Enjoying lunch at 8th Street (our favourite "foodie" destination!):
Mongolian Beef Vietnamese Street Rolls with Hoisin Sauce for me; Katsudon for Joanne
