The Reserve

Finally posting all the pictures from a recent trip to the local park & nature reserve with my cousin & her two small, inquisitive little fellows. Avid readers of this blog will already know how much I adore places like these, striving to take care of some of our most vulnerable furry friends while educating visitors (particularly tourists & school groups) about how best to look after not only our native wildlife but domestic & farm animals as well. The farm animals may have been out "visiting" a local school that day, but there was still plenty to look at before retiring to the kiosk for a bowl of delicious crispy hot chips with tomato sauce (followed by lemon meringue pie for dessert!) & finishing the day out with a play on the equipment.

Scroll down to see how it all unfolded...

If you look closely, you can see a Monitor Lizard

Black Cockatoo

The realm of the Bilby...

Huge Grey Kangaroos
(If you look closely in the background, you can see an Emu eating his breakfast in the trough at the back)

Black Swans

Posing on the boardwalk near the Swan Pond in a fresh navy & white gingham cotton 1950s style dress from Laura Ashley, black leather embellished "toe" flat sandals from Gios Eppo (found at my local Trade Secret store for an absolute bargain price), shiny silver leather cross-body bag with contrasting utilitarian strap from Noosa Living, black lava stone bracelets from Gone Dotti at the Southbank Markets & finally, a jaunty straw cloche hat with black lace band detailing from Morgan & Taylor. What can I say? I love "picnic blanket" prints... it must be a left over from my high school years when I had to wear what was basically a table cloth for years on end...

Selfie Time!

Some of the crunchiest Hot Chips that I've ever tasted!

Being a bit naughty & having a Lemon Meringue Pie for dessert...
