Avid readers of this blog will already know how much I adore all things lace, twill, taffeta, embroidered & floral but sometimes it's nice to get "back to the basics" with plain colours & hard-wearing fabrics like denim, cotton & linen. Case in point: this gorgeous ensemble I wore to the local shopping centre for lunch with my cousin & her boys recently. The indigo denim pinafore with faux tortoiseshell buttons from Melbourne label Wolf & Mischka is a recent acquisition from the divine Browns General Store at Paddington & with its strong 1970s vibes will be ideal for wearing all through the spring/summer season with a variety of tees, peasant tops or blouses underneath (or nothing at all depending on the weather) while the beautiful burgundy linen top with fluted sleeves from boho-luxe emporium Wilde Willow is the perfect "pop" of muted colour that can also be worn in a myriad of ways, including underneath striped overalls & corduroy. Accessories were also kept simple - a pair of black perforated leather lace-up brogues from Midas & a matching vinyl crossbody bag with silver hardware from Urban Originals that I picked up in two colours from TK Maxx around this time last year to complete the look.
