There's nothing better than heading into the Great Outdoors to breathe in the fresh air while the weather in Queensland remains relatively cool during the early springtime. Case in point: the beautiful, heritage listed Sherwood Arboretum (previously known as Sherwood Forest Park), established in 1925 with the planting of 72 Queensland kauri trees along a central promenade named after Queensland governor Sir Matthew Nathan & now stretching out over an area of 15 hectares along the meandering Brisbane River, adjacent to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Aside from the Edwardian avenue, the arboretum also boasts open spaces, timbered slopes, forest groves, duck ponds & modern playground & BBQ facilities... perhaps one of the last places in this increasingly monetary-focused world where visitors can enjoy themselves without spending a dime.

For the occasion, I donned a casual pair of vintage indigo denim overalls from Retro Metro Paddington with black & white gingham cotton button-down shirt from Bohemian Traders underneath for a very "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" vibe, classic white denim jacket from Just Jeans to ward off the chill in the air, a funky pair of pink leather & calf hair brogues with black "evil eyes" painted all over them from Rollie Nation via Milu Boutique & a black vinyl crossbody bag with silver hardware from Urban Originals via my local TK Maxx store to carry all the essentials while keeping my hands free for exploration.

Scroll down to see how the morning unfolded...
