Capsule Collection: Part 1

Over four blog posts, I will be sharing images of my "capsule wardrobe collection" for a fantasy/dream holiday destination in the Sunshine State, ostensibly somewhere by a beach or riverbank. For those who may be unfamiliar, a "capsule wardrobe" is just a fancy name for a small collection/set number of clothing items that are able to be mixed & matched with each other to create many stylish outfits quickly & easily. The collection utilises a rather traditional "by the water" colour palette of blues & whites (augmented with pops of black & tan) & a myriad of patterns, prints & block colour. After taking aspects such as lifestyle, weather/temperature & itinerary into consideration, a multitude of fabrics & textures were included such as organic cotton, voile, textured jacquard, embroidered mesh, leather & woven straw. Scroll down to see the finished, documented looks (2 per post) in glorious photographs taken in my Aunt's beautiful Aussie garden & the further "mix & match" options provided below to create more amazing ensembles.

LOOK #1
Dress: Lee Mathews cotton voile
Slip: Taking Shape elastane
Heels: Kitten D'Amour vegan leather
Hat: Asos woven straw, grosgrain ribbon

*

The first look celebrates this divine white cotton voile shirtdress with dainty puff sleeves, tiered hemline detailing & delicate pin-tucking from celebrated Australian designer Lee Mathews that always reminds me of Peter Weir's movie masterpiece, "Picnic at Hanging Rock." I've donned a short, white elastane slip underneath for modesty purposes & then added a pair of vibrant blue vegan leather deco heels from Kitten D'Amour (ideal for showcasing my slim ankles) & a black woven sunhat with floral grosgrain ribbon strap from online fashion emporium Asos to complete the look, while serving the dual purposes of keeping the Queensland sun's harsh rays off my countenance.

A further styling option is to make the dress more suited to a casual occasion by adding a pair of tan leather sandals with ankle straps from Wittner, a woven paper crossbody bag with extreme fringing from Asos to carry all the essentials & a pair of black resin "cat's eye" sunglasses from Sportsgirl. All three items are pictured below:

LOOK #2
Dress: Review stretch polyblend
Heels: Kitten D'Amour vegan leather
Bag: H&M woven straw, vinyl strap
Sunglasses: Sportsgirl resin

*

The second look centres around this sweet-yet-sensual navy & white polka dotted stretch polyblend dress in a body-con silhouette with its deep v-neckline, delicate shoulder bows & waist ruching from vintage-inspired "girly" label Review, styled up with a pair of vibrant blue vegan leather deco heels from Kitten D'Amour, a circular white woven straw handbag with vinyl strap from my local H&M store & a pair of black resin "cat's eye" sunglasses from Sportsgirl that really give the entire look that 1950s-starlet-hiding-from-the-paparazzi quality that I actually quite adore.

For a different look entirely, the blue heels can be swapped out for a pair of chunky white leather wedges from a German company called Stegmann, the same white woven straw handbag from H&M can once again be utilised & a cropped, white knitted cardigan with navy "mermaid pin up" embroidery from Collectif Vintage added to ward off any slight chill in the air. Once again, all three items are pictured below:
