Capsule Collection: Part 2

Over four blog posts, I will be sharing images of my "capsule wardrobe collection" for a fantasy/dream holiday destination in the Sunshine State, ostensibly by a beach or riverbank. For those who may be unfamiliar, a "capsule wardrobe" is just a fancy name for a small collection/set number of clothing items that are able to be mixed & matched with each other to create many stylish outfits quickly & easily. The collection utilises a rather traditional "by the water" colour palette of blues & whites (augmented with pops of black & tan) & a myriad of patterns, prints & block colour. After taking aspects such as lifestyle, weather/temperature & itinerary into consideration, a multitude of fabrics & textures were included such as organic cotton, voile, textured jacquard, embroidered mesh, leather & woven straw. Scroll down to see the finished, documented looks (2 per post) in glorious photographs taken in my Aunt's beautiful Aussie garden & the further "mix & match" options provided below to create more amazing ensembles.

LOOK #3
Dress: Gorman cotton poplin
Sandals: Wittner leather
Bag: Asos woven paper, fringing
Hat: Asos woven straw, grosgrain ribbon

*

The third look features this bright & breezy striped cotton poplin (stiff cotton that does, admittedly, crush/wrinkle easily but also irons well) midi-length dress with vibrant panels of blue, orange, purple, yellow & tan waves & monochrome blocks from Gorman, an environmentally-conscious Australian label with a vast cult following both here & overseas. I've styled it up with a pair of funky tan leather sandals with ankle straps from Wittner, a woven paper crossbody bag with extreme fringing from Asos that's large enough to carry "everything but the kitchen sink" as they say & finally, black woven straw sunhat with floral grosgrain ribbon tie (also from Asos) to ward off the sun's harmful rays.

A further styling option is to make the dress more suitable for a smart-casual occasion by swapping the tan leather sandals for a pair of blue vegan leather deco heels from Kitten D'Amour, a circular white woven straw handbag with vinyl strap from my local H&M store & a pair of black resin "cat's eye" sunglasses from Sportsgirl. All three items are pictured below:

LOOK #4
Dress: Retrospec'd stretch cotton sateen
Sandals: Wittner leather
Bag: Asos woven paper, fringing
Sunglasses: Sportsgirl resin

*

The fourth look centres around this kitschy sailing boats & sea monsters printed stretch cotton sateen empire-line swing dress from vintage-inspired fashion label Retrospec'd, styled up for a promenade across the bridge with a pair of tan leather sandals with ankle straps from Wittner, a natural, woven paper crossbody bag with extreme fringing from online emporium Asos (ideal for keeping all the essentials close at hand) & a pair of black resin "cat's eye" sunglasses from Sportsgirl to capitalise on the ensemble's retro vibes.

For a different look, swap the tan leather sandals for a pair of chunky white leather wedges from German brand Stegmann, a circular white woven straw handbag with vinyl strap from my local H&M store in place of the fringed crossbody & a large-brim, black woven straw sunhat with floral grosgrain ribbon tie from Asos in place of the black resin sunglasses. Once again, all items are pictured below:
