Leaning into the current Cottage Core trend with this darling ensemble, taking pictures in my verdant back garden on a sunny Queensland morning. For the uninitiated (those who don't spend hours pouring over fashion magazine spreads or scrolling through social media accounts for editorial content) Cottage Core is an aesthetic primarily inspired by a romanticised view or interpretation of western/country living that centres around the idea of a more simple life in harmony with nature & an image of the nostalgic countryside including peasant dresses, woven items including baskets or hats & lush gardens full of roses, baby's breath or lavender blooms. The gorgeous, soft beige cotton maxi dress with ruffled neckline (able to be worn on or off the shoulder) from Dissh & natural straw boater hat with contrasting black grosgrain ribbon from Forever New truly give that feeling of a mix between "The Secret Garden" (Agnieszka Holland's 1993 ode to British manor house living) & "Picnic at Hanging Rock" (Peter Weir's 1975 ethereal cinematic masterpiece) that I have long regarded as some of my strongest sartorial inspirations.
