For those of you who might feel a bit disheartened by all the recent Covid 19 outbreak information in Queensland & beyond, here are some joyful pictures from a chilly morning spent exploring & enjoying wintertime in the Great Outdoors with my cousin & her two rambunctious munchkins that may lift your spirits, bring a smile to your face & give you a sense of hope, regeneration & renewal for a pandemic-free future. While this area may seem like it's somewhere far away, deep in the Australian Outback, it's actually a Conservation Reserve that's right in the middle of my hometown, only a stone's throw from a major hospital & a few streets away from the central business district... & yet, it's like another world with crisp, fresh air permeated by the smell of eucalyptus trees, the only sound you can hear being the warbling magpies, your own footsteps as you traverse the many winding paths or the laughter of small boys as they pick up sticks & pretend to be musketeers or pirates with swashbuckling swords...

If you're an avid reader of this blog, you'll already be aware that aside from the odd jumpsuit, I wear dresses 99.9% of the time, regardless of location & this was no different: I donned a funky blue, grey & pink tweed fit-to-flare pinafore with midi-length hemline, diamante button detailing & tie straps from whimsical British label Sister Jane, a white jersey t-shirt with stiff cotton puff sleeves from my local H&M store underneath & an oversized blue woven cardigan with mother-of-pearl buttons from Cotton On Body over the top to ward off the chill in the air. When it came to accessories, I chose a pair of feather-light, comfortable & supportive black leather high top sneakers from Converse, black 40 denier nylon tights from Razzamatazz to keep my legs feeling toasty warm (little stylist tip: buy the tall/xtall size to give your legs a chance to breathe if you are doing something strenuous or if you live in Queensland & the weather changes very quickly), a black vinyl & woven silk crossbody bag from Country Road to carry all the essentials while keeping my hands free & finally, the ever-present mask, this time a butterfly-printed cotton blend from the British Museum Gift Shop.

Scroll down to see how the morning unfolded...
