Had the pleasure of attending yet another Autumn/Winter Fashion Preview today & once again, the Queensland weather was not obliging. To counteract the heat & humidity, I donned a textured jacquard Anthea Crawford dress in a bright shade of lemon/lime with pleated v-neckline detail & waist darts for shape, matched with a pair of sky-high floral silk/satin peeptoe platforms with matching envelope clutch. The circular "embossed" blooms on the dress mirror those in the silk/satin print for a cohesive overall look.

Scroll down for a closer look at the adroit pattern-mixing:

When it came to jewellery, I decided on lustrous pearls - both real & faux - mixed with silver to add subtle shine for day. What I love about pearls is the way that they seem to take on the colour of whatever it is that you're wearing & when it comes to the "real" variety, they seem almost lit from within when placed against the skin...

The biggest jewellery statement was this long, multi-strand pearl necklace - a thoughtful gift from a dear friend - that sat perfectly on the v-neckline & brought light to my face. The mix of textures - the different types of pearls against the jacquard of the dress - added visual interest & the white hue really brought out the bright lemon/lime. See below for close-ups:

In addition to the statement piece, other high & low end pieces of jewellery were chosen: a trio of faux pearl beaded bracelets from chain-store Colette as well as a silver & pearl ring from the Chinese Pearl Markets & stunning silver hand-made cuff, embossed with a Tibetan blessing that my brother brought back for me from the same trip. They are both exceptionally beautiful, particularly the latter, which will be treasured for generations to come...

I often feel, when it comes to styling, that it is ALL IN THE MIX. Cheaper, chain-store, low-end accessories worn with as much swagger & gravitas as their high-end counterparts help make outfits eclectic, interesting & inspirational. It is easy to spend money on a litany of designer pieces from the same house & wear them altogether as a complete look - & if I'm honest, who wouldn't want to wear something as iconic as head-to-toe Chanel?! - but in most cases, it takes far more vision & foresight to pull together a look from a myriad of divergent sources.
