In these gorgeous pictures, I'm eschewing the long-established fashion rule dictating that black & navy should not be worn together in favour of the French penchant for mixing both to great effect... This look, ideal for wintertime in Queensland, comprises of a navy floral embroidered midi dress with gathered waist & drawstring shoulder detailing from Aussie designer Sacha Drake, cinched with a black patent stretch belt from Hell Bunny via That Shop in Carindale for added shape, shiny black patent pointy-toed ankle boots from Wittner, a pair of navy houndstooth tights from Razzamatazz (kindly gifted) for a spot of pattern mixing & a boxy black suede handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection to carry all the essentials without ruining the "line" of the dress by having something hanging over one of my shoulders. With such an ostentatious & eclectic look, jewellery was kept simple yet still with that kitschy, bohemian twist that I adore - an upcycled silver fork turned cuff that some friends gifted me for my birthday & an upcycled cake-server turned cuff that I discovered at one of the many market stalls at last year's Battle of the Clans event in Limestone Park.
