If you read this blog often, you'll already know that I'm a sucker for fairytales & can't resist a whimsical gown with the capacity to transport me to a mystical land full of magic & wonder right in the middle of an ordinary day... or month... or year, for that matter. Take this dress from lauded English label Sister Jane, for example - this piece of textured cream polyblend perfection with its empire-line silhouette, tiered midi-length hemline & tie shoulder straps that altogether make it ideal for dancing & prancing as though lighter than air or full of pixie dust - does it not take you to a different place, even for a moment? I know there are those out there who would want to put away childish things & banish fanciful notions of fairies at the bottom of the garden or gnomes that live in the forest & take care of the animals within or even pixies that dance in the moonlight to the dulcet tones of frogs & crickets but that seems rather sad & shortsighted to me; I would wish to be convinced of the "otherworldliness" of our beloved myths & legends for as long as humanly possible, particularly considering what's going on in our world at present. With that in mind, I styled up this stunning dress with some of my favourite pieces - a pair of soft gold vegan leather "art deco" style heels (read: flapper approved) with silver buckles from French-inspired label Kitten D'Amour & a silver tribal cuff from Najo via that lovely ladies at Precious Stones Jewellers in the Myer Centre.
