Avid readers of this blog will already know that I like to have a point of difference in every outfit that I put together & these cooler afternoons have me thinking all about the plethora of funky cover-ups - jackets, wraps, caplets, kimonos, cardigans, vests - that work wonders over my most beloved dresses... both in terms of practicality & aesthetic value. Case in point: this gorgeous, chunky vintage cream wool capelet with waist tie from a relatively new discovery of mine, Emma Hope Vintage on Etsy (a great vintage eye at a great price) that I've styled up with an absolutely divine black, silver & gold floral embroidered mesh A-line midi dress with tulle underlay from Aussie designer Anthea Crawford, a pair of black leather lace-up heels from Jo Mercer (it's so great when you can change the sizing throughout the day to stop the "summer spread/swell" from making each step complete torture), a retro-inspired, black floral lace pouch-shaped clutch with maple wood clasp from Adorne & finally, a pair of black & cream flower-shaped resin bangles from Gorman to complete the look & add some "eco" gravitas. The capelet will also look amazing over more casual fare like the prairie maxi dresses that I adore from Ankoa, the leopard print shift dresses from Review & even over vibrant, printed linen jumpsuits from Princess Highway... so versatile, so many options & a garment that you KNOW other people won't be wearing because the fact that it's handmade AND vintage makes it utterly unique.
