Gold Coast Road Trip

I'm so excited to be finally sharing all of the gorgeous pictures from a belated birthday "day trip" to the Gold Coast with my younger brother Louis on a sunny winter's Sunday! We started our day with a piping hot coffee from Piccolo Coffee Co before heading down the highway to King Tutt's Putt Putt at Surfers Paradise for a few rounds of mini golf, then on to Nobby's Beach to add some vinyl classics to our collection at our beloved Rare Groove Records & grab a bite to eat amongst the relaxed & cruisy vibes of 52 Espresso in the heart of the suburb's "foodie strip" & then further on to Coolangatta's main street for a traipse around the many beautiful boutiques, bohemian emporiums & antique stores including a browse around our favourite, 20th Century Antiques & Collectibles... ending up on the pristine, white sands of Greenmount Beach just as the rain began to pitter-patter & it was time to trundle home again!

For the occasion, I donned a gorgeous, vintage-inspired red & white gingham polycotton midi dress with tiered hemline & white organza straps from whimsical British label Sister Jane, a vibrant red knitted cropped cardigan with three-quarter-sleeves & tie neckline from Kitten D'Amour, an blue, tan, pink, red & purple ombre chunky knitted wool cardigan from Pink Diamond that I found at the delightful Trottie Becke boutique in the heart of downtown Ipswich (word to the wise: the silhouette is very oversized so size down if you want a sleeker look), a pair of comfortable white leather sneakers from Reebok via Platypus Shoes & a natural woven straw crossbody bag from a little nameless boutique on Etsy to carry the essentials. When it came to jewellery, I chose to wear some special vintage items, gifted to me by dear friends - a brushed silver bangle on one wrist & a silver & blue enamel hinged bangle in the shape of an Indian elephant with red diamantes in the middle of his forehead on the other.

Love finding beautiful murals in suburban places to pose in front of... to be honest, it's pretty much a blogger's dream. If you can peel your eyes away from the stunning artwork, you may also notice that I've changed my shoes owing to the change in temperature & proximity to the beach, swapping my sneakers for a stylish pair of silver leather Saltwater sandals that may have cost me a bit more than I would normally pay for a such a casual shoe ($99) but have lasted me 4 years so far & counting, so brilliant value for money & cost per wear...

Can't go wrong with 52 Espresso... Even after a lengthy gap while Covid lockdowns & restrictions were ravaging the state, the all-day breakfast, ice-cold smoothies, laid-back ambiance & cheerful customer service are as brilliant as ever! From the top: the Mushrooms on Toast with garlic mushrooms, haloumi cheese & avocado on rye toast; the 52 Melt with grilled bacon, avocado, cheese & tomato on toasted Turkish bread with hollondaise sauce... washed down with a Banana Smoothie...

Elated to actually be standing ON THE SAND! At last...
