Stamford Staycation 1

Avid readers of this blog will already be aware that for the last five weeks, I've probably spent more time in hotel/apartment rooms than at home, with almost back-to-back holidays & staycations at Columbia on the Gold Coast & Stamford Plaza in Brisbane CBD.

Over the next four posts, I'll be sharing some of the outfits & experiences from this most recent little soujourn, so scroll down to check out the first installment...

Dress: Veronika Maine embroidered polyblend
Shirtdress (as Jacket): H&M polyblend
Heels: Wittner leather & elastic

Exploring my new surroundings wearing a beautiful navy floral embroidered midi dress with ruffle hemline from Veronika Maine, chartreuse & grey paisley printed polyblend shirtdress (worn open as a longline jacket) from H&M for a bit of pattern-mixing & pop of colour & finally, my trusty pair of black leather pointy-toed heels with elastic straps from Wittner.

Cardigan: Review knit, faux pearls
Heels: Wittner leather & elastic
Bag: French Connection suede, vinyl with silver hardware
Bracelet: Tibetan silver (from boutique in Maleny)

Mirror selfie in my hotel room before heading out to a styling job wearing a stunning floral stretch bengaline dress with tie belt from Sacha Drake, cropped black knitted cardigan with faux pearls from "girly" label Review that nipped me in right at the smallest part of my waist, black leather pointy-toed heels with elastic strap details from Wittner & a boxy suede & vinyl handbag with oversized silver handles from French Connection to carry all of the essentials. Jewellery was minimal in deference to the rest of the ensemble; merely a chunky Tibetan silver bracelet that I picked up at a boutique in Maleny.

A quick bathroom selfie on my way to dinner at The Pav Bar wearing a gorgeous dark floral neoprene "wiggle" dress with ruffle detailing from Anthea Crawford & sleek black leather jacket from Portmans. Keep scrolling for a peek at the ah-mazing organic beef burger & crispy chips that I was lucky enough to indulge in...

Dress: Sacha Drake stretch bengaline
Cardigan: Review knit, faux pearls
Heels: Wittner leather
Bracelet: Tibetan silver (from boutique in Maleny)

Last looks in the mirror before taking in a screening of "A Simple Favour" at the Elizabeth Street Picture Theater with a friend before heading out to dinner at Vapiano in the Queen Street Mall. Cooler weather (not to mention cinema air-conditioning) meant that something warmer was required, so I chose this magical monochrome leaf-printed stretch bengaline number front split & tie belt from Sacha Drake, cropped black knitted cardigan with faux pearls from Review, black leather pointy-toed heels from Wittner & chunky Tibetan silver bracelet that I picked up from a boutique in Maleny that just seems to GO WITH ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING at the moment.

Dress: Anthea Crawford crepe, lace
Jacket: Forever New polyblend
Heels: Wittner patent leather
Ring: Dinosaur Designs resin

Pulling out all the stops to look all serious & "theatrical" enough to attend a performance called Snippets of Shakespeare, where the important "bits" of each & every play penned by the Bard himself are enacted in a two hour time frame... by a maximum of five actors playing various roles. Considering most (if not all) of his plays INDIVIDUALLY take more than three hours to perform in their entirety (& as he himself intended) this is no mean feat. If you love Shakespeare & have the opportunity to see this show, it comes highly recommended... not least for the chance to sit in the audience & pick out the play's name before it is announced by the narrator...

For the occasion, I donned a sublime black satin-backed crepe "wiggle" dress with cold shoulder detailing, embroidered red rose lace trim & ruffled "cha cha" hemline from Anthea Crawford, lipstick red polyblend jacket with buttons from Forever New, shiny black patent heeled booties from Wittner & a moulded "rose" resin cocktail ring from Dinosaur Designs to complete the look.

Sitting pretty in the window overlooking Brisbane city wearing a sweet white & green broderie smock from IndoIndus at Redcliffe, white knitted longline cardigan from Metalicus, white leather gladiator flat sandals from Wittner (I have a feeling these babies will be on permanent rotation this summer), malachite resin bangle & matching ring from Dinosaur Designs & brass rings from an awesome stall at the Redcliffe Markets.

Ankle Boots: Senso embroidered leather
Bracelet: Tibetan silver (from boutique in Maleny)

On my way to experience the critically acclaimed musical, "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert" wearing a funky blue stretch lace "wiggle" dress with black leather strap (added by me) from Sacha Drake, monochrome leaf-embroidered leather ankle boots from Senso that I purchased from the amazing Zomp Shoez in Fortitude Valley & a chunky Tibetan silver bracelet that I picked up from a little boutique in Maleny this time last year...
