Despite the fact that I'm not exactly keen on "open sea" travelling, there's just something special about nautical-inspired clothing, particularly with a vintage vent. Some may even say it's a "salute" to this perennial favourite, especially if they'd seen the first photograph in this sequence. These shots were taken as part of a recent "Vintage Style Challenge" from the delightful ladies at That Shop (formerly of Carindale, online for the foreseeable) & I'm wearing a few of their pieces, starting with an absolutely gorgeous navy & white striped cotton 1950s style "beach dress" from Collectif Vintage that I've styled up with a vibrant, lipstick red polyblend petticoat from Banned Retro to give body & movement & provide a "pop" of primary colour. To complete the look, I donned a pair of sumptuous navy patent loafers with fringing (!) from Paul Green via Peter Sheppard Footwear that I purchased for a quarter of the retail price in a mega sale a few years ago that just get more supple & comfortable with both age & wear, carried a matching navy patent envelope clutch with silver hardware from Anthea Crawford & finished with a silver watch with navy & white striped calico band from Daniel Wellington.
