Spent a relaxing Saturday fossicking around the Commercial Road Antiques Centre with my mother Joanne & brother Louis followed by a leisurely stroll around Teneriffe, stopping to take pictures with Gloria (the Woolstore Ewe) & some imaginative street art.

Knowing that we were heading to a birthday celebration later that evening & wouldn't have time to change outfits, I decided to wear my "party" dress all day, pairing it with a leather jacket & low-heeled Mary Poppins shoes in order to dress it down. In addition, I kept the jewellery simple - a chunky studded bangle & wooden beaded bracelets that Louis had brought me back as a souvenir (among other things) from his last trip to China.

We couldn't resist following our usual routine by eating lunch at Brio Breakfast & Brunch Restaurant. So many delicious options on the menu make it hard to choose, so Mum & I decided to "go halves," sharing the soft shell crab burger with home made coleslaw & the caramelised pumpkin & bacon tart with walnuts. I washed mine down with one of Brio's famous bananarama smoothies - a unique blend of Queensland bananas, full cream milk, ice cream, honey, cinnamon & peanut butter! Yes, you read it right: peanut butter. Take it from me - one taste & you'll wonder why no one else has thought of it yet...

Keep reading to see how a few subtle tweaks change this daytime ensemble into a night time look suitable for a birthday dinner...

Coco Chanel once counselled ladies to "look in the mirror & take one thing off" before they left the house. I took her advice, taking off the chunky studded bangle but then I went ahead & ADDED a beautiful silk scarf in a contrasting floral to give my party dress some night time flare. The pink hue seemed to be the colour of the evening too, with the birthday girl donning her new pink Minnie Mouse costume to blow out her candles...

HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY IVORY!
MAY ALL YOUR WISHES COME TRUE!
