"Spacing out" with an intergalactic print for a day spent enjoying all things Whovian at an event celebrating the incumbent 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi. Although I didn't go as far as donning a full costume - though Dalek was a popular choice - I did dress to the theme with my dress & T.A.R.D.I.S blue bag combo, topped off with watch, rose gold hinged bangle & star shaped rings.

For the uninitiated, Dr Who is a British science fiction TV show that began in 1963 with the pilot "An Unearthly Child" & follows the adventures of a Time Lord (or Time Travelling Humanoid) & his female companion. Even 51 years later, its popularity has never waned, with people from all walks of life queuing to purchase official merchandise, view behind-the-scenes & never-before-seen footage & greet some of the actors that have played the ubiquitous main character... Some people may have even had the chance to meet a certain blond British actor who once played a "slothful, drunken, incompetent lecher" (who was infinitely lovable none-the-less!) on hit 1970s TV show, All Creatures Great & Small & may have even made a fool of themselves telling him how much they just LOVED him as Tristan - &, you know, liked him as the 5th Doctor...

There was much discussion regarding fan's favourite episodes & I was more than happy to weigh in on the debate. My absolute favourite is called "Blink" & it involves 10th Doctor David Tennant & some creepy stone Weeping Angel statues that move closer & closer each time you blink until they are close enough to attack... Honestly, it's enough to make you eye every subsequent statue you see with suspicion...

So how do you know if you're a true Dr Who fan?

Ask yourself this question: What's the name of the main character? If you said The Doctor, you'd be correct. His name is NOT Doctor Who; that's the name of the TV show. The man himself is simply referred to as Doctor.

Clearly, I wasn't immune to the fan frenzy, lining up to purchase a few key items, pictured below:

Loving wrapping myself up in 4th Doctor Tom Baker's extra-extra-extra long knitted wool scarf. I always wondered how he managed to avoid tripping over it... I guess I'll finally have the chance to find out!

Enjoying a cup of tea from the ceramic head of my favourite Time Lord, 5th Doctor Peter Davison, poured from my T.A.R.D.I.S teapot, which makes approximately 5 cups... well, it is bigger on the inside than the outside, you know...

All in all, an awesome experience for die-hard fans - I'd love to do it all again but unfortunately, as the above picture would denote, the only T.A.R.D.I.S I have access to is of the ceramic variety...
