At the risk of sounding like a broken record, these cooler temperatures in South East Queensland have really been an absolute dream come true, allowing the more summer-weary residents to start taking day trips into the great outdoors without passing out from heatstroke, sweating through even the flimsiest of fabrics, carting around copious amounts of cold water or being carried away by mozzies. Case in point: this lovely morning spent enjoying the "zen like" Japanese tranquility of Nerima Gardens before heading to the Ipswich Nature Centre to see some of our favourite Aussie "mates" including wallabies, kangaroos, wombats, goannas, bilbies, emus and cockatoos.

For the occasion, I decided to wear one of my all-time favourite midi-length dresses made from printed neoprene with a black lace overlay from Anthea Crawford, pattern-mixed with a boucle three-quarter-sleeved jacket from Mano, shiny black patent ankle boots from Wittner (nothing better than the combination of comfort & style) & a black vinyl crossbody bag with silver hardware from Urban Originals to carry all the essentials while keeping my hands free to wrangle some excitable little munchkins. When it came to jewellery, I took a "less is more" approach - a pair of handmade cuffs made from twine, beads & semi-precious stones (discovered at a market stall at the EKKA a few years ago) in colours reminiscent of those found in the dress & jacket, drawing the entire look together.

Scroll down to see how it all unfolded...
