It seems to be getting harder & harder to find little boutiques offering something "different" at an affordable price these days, so I was delighted to find this inexpensive little gem at a store at Tweed Heads called "Frilly Jungle." Commissioned especially for the store, the smock is available in a variety of colours & prints, doesn't require ironing (which is great for travelling or taking it from beach-to-bar, as they say) & is one-size-fits-all, which I love as the floaty nature of the garment means one thing: COOL IN SUMMER!
Adoring bright colours as much as I do, I just couldn't go past this vibrant, large-scale floral pattern, knotted on each side to create movement & visual interest & enhanced by the addition of the floral silk platform heels & clutch.
For me, hot weather = minimal jewellery so I need to make the few pieces I do wear, count. A thick silver cuff & matching sculptural silver choker & bangle with pearl ends do the trick: not only do they work in terms of scale - the large pieces refusing to be overshadowed by the oversized flowers depicted - but the lustrous pearls play off the dress' white lining, creating a cohesive overall look. Simple yet effective dressing at the busiest time of the year...
