Hang Up Your Stocking

Christmas Eve is here again
Wrap up your Christmas gifts & then
Tomorrow's the day, 'morrow's the day
Tomorrow is Christmas Day
- Peter Coombe

In which I go to bed (relatively) early to wait for the arrival of Santa Claus...

Lipstick red textured jacquard was the order of the day for Christmas Eve festivities at my younger brother's house & certainly put me in a Christmas-y mood! As avid readers of the blog will already know, I LOVE spots & wearing them when celebrating all things festive with Louis & Co. is somewhat of a tradition... See this previous Deck the Halls post from December 7 for proof...

The dress' empire-line shape with pleated waist detail helps to visually lengthen my petite body while simultaneously adding curves & the low v-neckline acts as the perfect "frame" for my new silver & black pearl choker, worn with the matching bangle, as well as my usual chunky silver cuff. Cue relaxed accessories: a pair of black suede & rattan platform wedges with ankle straps - perfect for a "block party" or "complex party" with the neighbours on the newly-created lawn area - & a circular patent handbag with twee painted sides.

Unpredictable weather meant that a vibrant, printed silk scarf was to be the ideal finishing touch to the ensemble: this Anthea Crawford floral & geometric print option was perfect as it has patches of lipstick red in the print as well as some of the blues & greens found on the sides of the handbag. It matches, yet it also adds another dimension to the look. Clearly, minimalism isn't my strong suit - in fashion or in decor - as I am more of a Victorian maximalist... or "magpie" as many Australians call it, drawn to bright & shiny objects & weaving them together in an unexpected fashion... Well, each to their own, I say...

Scroll down for some Christmas Eve hi-jinks...

Christmas headpiece craziness... Cue "mirror selfie"

Delicious Endless Noodle dinner... complete with Christmas bonbons!

Tea & a book before bed... Owing to my love of all things 1960s & 1970s, it just HAD to be Peter, Paul & Mary...
