The first day of the weekend was spent doing the last of my Christmas shopping at the Paddington Antique Centre, traipsing around the the store for hours looking for retro & vintage treasures to fill the stockings of my friends & family. Laden with gifts, it was then time to fill my grumbling stomach with delicious fare from The Java Lounge Cafe next door - a warm roast pumking & haloumi salad with almond couscous & a spiced honey dressing, washed down with one of their famous banana & cinnamon smoothies, which are just as amazing as their malted milkshakes served in the anodised cup.

It's no secret that I love to dress to a theme, so this blue & white spotted VINTAGE dress (a gift from Marcus' mother) was the ideal starting point for my eclectic ensemble, the bright hue further enhanced by the addition of a white slip - rather than my first port-of-call, a black one - underneath. A sweet nod to that favourite of fashion icon Coco Chanel - nautical - the dress has a pleated skirt detail & white v-neckline with a cute little button; lovely & fresh for a summer weekend.

Once again, black patent accessories were used to "anchor" the look (pardon the pun) - this time my trusty pair of black gladiator-style sandals & a circular handbag with twee painted picture on each side of a cat sitting outside an English Country Garden gate.

Curves also featured in the jewellery chosen: pearl beaded bracelets on my left wrist along with a silver 2 ball ring on my pointer finger & silver cuffs on my right - my favourite curved silver thick band as well as a vintage silver fork that has been recycled into an avant garde sculpture, the prongs fashioned into circles... Quite the unique finishing touch.

LOOK #2

Bag: Bluebird @ Strandbags vinyl
Watch: Guess rose gold & silver
Bangles: Lovisa

The final day of the weekend was spent attending an appointment in the city, so a look with a bit more of a "business" vibe was required. This lace textured jacquard dress in a hue imaginatively called "papaya" was an ideal option, particularly when mixed with "relaxed" accessories - a pair of beige leather wedges with rope & patent heels, the latter being a "pop" of hot pink & a matching beige handbag, shown in detail below:

Jewellery was kept to a minimum, in this case a stack of Indian-inspired bangles in gold, silver & rose gold for a bit of sparkle as well as a stunning rose gold & silver watch with crystals around the face - a birthday present from some dear friends - as a nod to my potential business acumen.

On the second day of Christmas
My true love sent to me:
Two turtle doves
And a partridge in a pear tree

They may not be turtle doves but these two decorations were made to be together, despite the fact that they were sold separately - & not just because they are made of the same quality English Porcelain that Wedgwood has been known for since 1759...

#1 Angels We Have Heard on High
This particular decoration was given to my mother as a birthday gift, seeing that her birthday is so close to Christmas. It is a splendid depiction of a Christmas Angel - in the traditional Wedgwood colours of blue & white - & is so detailed that even the folds on her wrap can be seen, as well as each individual feather of her glorious wings.

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

#2 Away in a Manger
This bauble was bought as a companion piece to the angel above, after my mother fell in love with its exquisite depiction of the Holy Family - with Baby Jesus asleep in the Manger - as well as the Angel's visit to the Shepherds & the journey of the Three Wise Men; elements that become clear as you rotate the bauble clockwise. We are firm believers in the Christian element of the festive season, so these transcendent pieces have pride-of-place on our family Christmas tree.

Away in a Manager, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head
The stars in the bright sky looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay
